Ethan's Intro!

Do you have a practice of creative production or consumption? Tell us about it.

I love to sing and dance and in highschool I was a part of my school's competitive show choir and dance team, and I'm on NBC here on campus. I also really like to paint and draw, and my new favorite styles are line art and pointillism as of this past summer. In addition, I really like making digital collages or multi media art pieces, and I have done some clay work and pottery in the past.

What is your cellphone wallpaper?

My cell phone wallpaper is a live photo of among us except it says "harry styles was the imposter" as he floats across the screen in the game's animated style.

Who are the artists/writers/poets/"creatives"/cultural actors who have most profoundly influenced you, and why?

I would say that I have been most influenced by Mitch Albom, Jandy Nelson, Rupi Kaur, Nayyirah Waheed, and recently Mary Ruefle and Madeline Miller in terms of writing. In terms of music, Ben Platt, Sara Bareilles, Sleeping at Last, Lorde, Hozier, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé due to her visual albums Lemonade and Homecoming. For artists I wouldn't necessarily say that I have anybody that influenced me, but Picasso and Childe Hassam definitely did help. For the artists, I think they just influenced me because I liked their style, but for the musicians and the writers, they influenced me in both their style and their messages.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Not everything happens for a reason, but you can find a reason for why everything has happened.
